Santos Mahogany
Santos Mahogany is extremely dense and stable. Its superior hardness and color fastness make it an excellent choice over genuine mahogany, which is too soft for most flooring uses. On the Janka Hardness Scale, Santos Mahogany ranks at a 2200, but hardness does not mean durability. Due to the tight grain and smooth surface of Santos Mahogany, it tends to show scratches more easily than more open grained products such as Oak. Santos Mahogany exhibits a medium range of color variation. It ranges from a light orangey/brown with yellowish overtones to a dark reddish/purplish brown. Most of the wood exhibits a medium to dark orange/brown mahogany tone.
