Brazilian Walnut (Ipe)
As a flooring option, Brazilian Walnut (Ipe) is an incredibly hard and durable wood species. Along with its extreme hardness, strength, weight, density, and durability, Brazilian Walnut is also one of the most stable woods available. The heartwood of Brazilian Walnut ranges from olive brown to blackish. On the Janka Hardness Scale, Brazilian Walnut ranks at a 3684, but hardness does not mean durability. Due to the tight grain and smooth surface of Brazilian Walnut, it tends to show scratches more easily than more open grained products such as Oak.
